Buqi History
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a knowledge developed over 40 centuries, has only recently become known in Western culture in such forms as acupuncture, chinese herbs, and massage. The Buqi system of “healing without touch” is revealed by ancient sources to be over a thousand years old. While a part of TCM, it is a special knowledge of the type usually passed on to family members only. As such, this healing method was almost lost.
Dr. Shen Honqxun of the Buqi Institute learned the beginnings of this system as a boy in China, initially from his grandfather and later from his teachers. These include professor Yao Huanzhi, a legendary Tai Chi master. Dr. Shen, using his own experience and knowledge as both a Tai Chi master and a hospital director in China, has for over 30 years developed and refined this unique healing system to treat patients using healing energetic forces. He calls the system “Buqi”, for good qi or positive energy.
In the last several years, Dr Shen resolved to pass his knowledge on to humanity, and designed a series of rigorous courses to teach and quality other Buqi practitioners as healers and therapists. These courses included general training, diagnostics, personal energy development, and specific treatment techniques for certain diseases, as well as clinic work, exams and case studies. Those individuals completing these requirements received the “Diploma of Buqi Therapy from the International Buqi Institute.” In August, 2007 Dr. Shen formally awarded the first of these diplomas, (approximately 150) at his retirement event in Ghent, Belgium.
Because most of the courses took place in England, France and Belgium, few American residents have received this certification as a Buqi Therapists.
