What is binqi?

Binqi is the accumulation of negative qi in the body as a result of not being cleared by the circulating blood and body fluids.  Buqi Healing views the negative qi as the main cause of disease.

Qi is a wide ranging concept with many meanings. Often qi is translated or used to mean vital energy or breath. The theory of Binqi differentiates between healthy qi, or “buqi” and binqi or sick qi. In this context ‘bin’ means ill and ‘qi’ means unknown or invisible factors.

Poor body posture causes areas of the body such as around joints and between vertebrae to become constricted, and binqi not cleared.  Binqi can accumulate in inter-vertebral spaces, organs, muscles and joints. It may manifest as stiffness, itching, pain, and emotional reactions, etc. As a result, the area becomes blocked and posture worsens, the nerves and blood vessels no longer function optimally, and this in turn affects related organs.  Energy channels and circulations also become blocked and further reduce the body’s natural ability to clear binqi.  Excessive production of binqi can also result from repressed or continuous negative emotions or excessive thinking.  This can create pressure in the brain cavity.

The combination of poor posture and negative emotions is referred to as the “Double Vicious Circle.”
